Fixed my Guitar, 6-1-2009
So I was playing the other night, started out doing well, then couldn't play
anything, i came to find out when scrolling in the menu that 1 out of 5 down
strokes on the strum bar and the guitar did not respond. Today i did a
quick google search for the red octane site to start an RMA, and had intended
on going ahead and buying a new guitar in the mean time, but instead I
happened upon this site (and learned the warranty is 90 days)
I found the tip about how to remove the front panel of the guitar the
most useful, something I would not have been able to do without breaking it
(most likely)
So I went and bought a replacement 25 cent switch at radio shack for
3$ (they only had one), the actual repair took about 5 minutes once I had the
guitar apart. *Schwing*.
Its so easy 5-26-2009
Its so easy to post on here, its a shame i don't do it more often, since my
last post I had a friend move in while he looked for a new house... that's
done now, but i've been distracted by 'not a computer', i moved my office into
a side room and started feverishly playing guitar hero for several months, to
the point of wearing and ace bandage on my right arm to keep from jamming my
wrist, i'm back to 1 or 2 days a week now...its nice though, my most recent
accomplishment was playing fade to blank on the new guitar hero, expert.
It gets a little intense at the end (5:40) and never lets up.
The Amen Break 3-23-2009 (kid safe)
This is really fascinating (If you love music & NPR), its the origin of sampling, the original drum beat
copy write 'infringement', after 4 minutes of history he starts playing clips,
give it 5 minutes at least. At 5:30 minutes he plays jungle clips that
are familiar, then crazy un-dancable fad musical at 7:15, to the utterly
unbearable super acid laced ghetto funk techno at 7:50. At 12:40 a jeep
add that is currently playing on television. At 17:30 he starts talking
about copywriters.
Land Legs 3-18-2009
I guess its fitting this is my first post since the last time i had trouble
walking, I just ran my first race yesterday, it was the Fast Fred Run. I
think i did alright considering i was not wearing running shoes. I was
the one clapping down the road while everyone else's feet made little noise,
all of that pounding certainly had an effect, as my legs feel bruised all
over. Fortunately i think my cardio is in excellent shape, as i barely
sweat (2 mile race), of course i did stop and walk a few hundred feet, 3
times. I fully intend on purchasing a set of running shoes, and getting
to the point where i can run and enjoy it, I keep having the urge to go to the
gym now that the house is finished (oh yea, the house is finished). So
maybe running can bypass that, since i close to the university there are
plenty of places to run to.
Fixed 3-18-2009
The web server died shortly after my last post, and i just got it back up an
running a few weeks ago, just in time to not feel like sitting down at the PC
for a while. The fan on the processor died, shortly afterwards the
processor let its smoke out. I took the old server, and well, the other
one... and combined them into one. Next time ill have to buy parts i
guess...
Sea Legs 1-10-2009
So i closed out the 2 week holiday vacation with another vacation, to the
Bahamas. I traveled with my family, including grandfather. Having
him turned out to be a good addition, my parents chose a smaller boat, the
Norwegian Majesty, its a tiny
ship as cruise ships go which was well suited for my grandfather. Aside
from the obvious bars and restaurants, work out room, etc, the ship had very
little to offer other than a theater (for performances), however, even so i
had a great time, so the next outing on a big ship I am sure to find plenty to
do.
After the first day ashore, the cruise director asked if we had our
sea legs, I had assumed the soreness i was experiencing due to never using the
elevators on a 10 deck ship. It was not until the night I returned home
(to dry land) that i knew what sea legs were. I had noticed a few dizzy
spells during the day, at the rest area on the way home. That night when
i finally stepped into the shower was the first time i really stood still all
day, then it started. I could feel my house moving several feet from
side to side, i could see it to. Quite interesting really, I was
concerned about falling in the shower, i figured i was just hungry due to the
lack of not eating every 2 hours as I did on the ship. (I actually lost
weight).
I took off for dinner and noticed the symptoms disappeared when driving
my car, while pumping gas they returned, and suddenly it hit me, sea legs !
I googled the definition on my iphone, and found:
Sea Legs: Illusion of motion felt on dryland after spending time
at sea
